UP demand on NTPC power

The Uttar Pradesh Government has asked for a 75 per cent share of the electricity to be produced from State-owned power major NTPC Ltd's proposed power plant in the State. NTPC has tentatively earmarked Dhundwa Jamauli near Kanpur for setting up a supercritical thermal power project of 1,320 (2x660) MW and has sent the proposal to the Union Power Ministry. Under the Gadgil formula of power sharing, the host State gets 10 per cent as preferential allocation while 15 per cent is kept unallocated for the Centre. – Our Bureau
